Teaching

Ramlegh Park Primary School is a team of dedicated professionals working collaboratively towards our school vision. We are committed to ensuring all students achieve academically. Our staff are positive, committed and work as a team to support kids and each other. We work together to give new approaches a try and have fun while doing it. We encourage you to check out our Positions page for all available hiring opportunities.

Teaching Approaches

By using evidence-based programs we both support teachers and maximise learning for our students.

Approaches include:

  • Little Learners Love Literacy (Structured Synthetic Phonics)
  • Talk for Writing (Pie Corbet)
  • Team Teaching
  • Inquiry learning (Kath Murdoch)
  • Knowledge rich, integrated curriculum
  • Gradual release Instructional Model embedded into RPPS lesson structure

These structured programs provide a platform that teachers can use to deliver outstanding lessons. Teaching is both an Art and a Science. If our programs and curriculum can take the pain out of the Science, you are free to bring the Art.

Professional Development

We believe that the best PD is one you use. We provide weekly professional development sessions to teachers, organised around teacher practice and the schools vision, AIP and SSP. The school’s leadership team has committed to working alongside all staff.

In 2023 the school will have 5 Learning Specialists (LS). Our LS work in classrooms to coach, mentor and assist teachers to develop best practice. There is an established coaching cycle the teacher work through with the LS to set and achieve professional learning goals.

Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) drive much of the work in school, and in addition to these being opportunities to plan the upcoming week, they are also wonderful opportunities to share ideas and learn new practices from peers.

Wellbeing Programs

We recognise that students need to be taught appropriate behaviours and we use the best from SWPBS. We are currently receiving SWPBS coaching, with staff developing shared and consistent practices across the school.

We have 4 school values; Collaborate, Aspire, Respect and Explore (CARE) that is taught to all students. Understanding our emotions is very important to student development. RPPS uses the Zones of Regulation to explicitly teach emotional regulation.

Our wellbeing program includes:

  • Fulltime Speech pathologist, and part time therapist Minimum of 1 ES for every learning community who know and support any challenging students (funded or otherwise)
  • Lunchtime clubs
  • Additional ES support on yard duty
  • Breakfast club 2 days a week
